DALIDA LE GRAND VOYAGE
Sunday, May 3rd. Unfortunate day where the curtain came down forever.
Dalida is no more! As a goodbye she leaves a few hand-written words: "Life is unbearable to me. Forgive me." She, the last French show-business diva had decided to go. Twenty years after her fist attempt of suicide, in 1967, also on a Sunday. And, as she had done on that day, she had confounded all the clues so that those who were closer to her wouldn't worry and let her fulfil alone the faith she had chosen.
An act that was widely premeditated. Why? She was famous, she collected trophies, rewards, homage. She was wealthy, always beautiful. Nevertheless, on that day none of that mattered anymore.
Her artistic sensitiveness showed her now a grey life, a dead end. Yolanda didn't want to see Dalida anymore. Dalida wanted to become Yolanda again. Dalida Square by her home in Montmartre, Paris, was inaugurated on April 24th. In it a bronze torso of the singer. To go beyond the years, fashions and people, the journey of a life that you will see in this grieved documentary, the life she decided put an end to on a sad May Sunday.
Just as she had wished. Dalida always said that the day she was to leave she would be the one to pull the curtain down. And so it was!
